Cape Schanck Lighthouse Tour
The lighthouse precinct grounds have the original Lighthouse keepers cottages that are available for holiday rental. The Maritime Museum is expanding all the time. For those who cannot climb the steps into the Lamproom and see the workings still in place of a very fully operation lighthouse it is all in the Museum. A personal Guide can take you on a tour up into the lighthouse, every day you can make a booking between 10am and 4pm at the Kiosk in the carpark. There are also tour magnificent lookouts on site over looking Bass Straight with spectacular views.

The Cape Schanck lighthouse turned 150 years old on 30th June 2009.
Maritime museum houses exhibits on the lighthouse lenses, lighthouse keepers and information on lighthouse related topics. Cape Schanck was recently given a $6,000.00 grant from “The Regional Exhibition Touring Initiative” to produce an interpretive text for the museum, you can view this in our extended room of the Museum .

Koala petting and photography encounter allows visitors to get up close and cuddle Australia’s most
famous marsupial. Koala encounter is commissionable if included in group programs.
At night, Moonlit Sanctuary comes alive in a remarkable way, with world-famous lantern-lit tours. Owls and
other night birds are active, tiny feathertail gliders and giant yellow-bellied Gliders swoop around, and Quolls,
Pademelons and Bettongs forage for food. Visitors are amazed that even animals such as Wallabies are much
more active and responsive at night. Moonlit Sanctuary is fully accredited and received a 95% rating tin the Tourism Victoria Excellence program audit.
